6A46.10 • Rainbow: Rainbow Sphere

Location: Cabinet 5

Instructions:

• Place the sphere on one side of the projector screen in front of the aperture.
• Use the flashlight to shine light through the aperture on the opposite side.
• This will create a rainbow effect on the front side of the screen.
• Note: this does not create the strongest rainbow effect. It may not be extremely noticeable from the back of the classroom.

Concepts Conveyed:

• Shows how spheres can create rainbows when exposed to white light.
• A real-life example is water droplets in the atmosphere creating rainbows in the sky.

Demo Staff:

• Make sure to assemble the projection screen before class.
