5A40.20 • Induced Charge: Charge Propelled Cylinder

Location: Cabinet 1

Instructions / Notes:

• Set an empty soda can horizontally on the table such that the open end faces the students.
• Produce a static charge on one of the rods by rubbing it with the rabbit fur.
• Bring the rod close to the empty can and watch the can roll.
• Replace the rod with another rod of opposite static charge and observe the results.
